The Way Of Faith

Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father, but by Him. There are no other Gods (or gods) before the only one and true God (who exists in a Trinity: Father, Son [Jesus Christ], and the Holy Spirit.) "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." Exodus 20:3.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6.

Today it is popular to teach that "there are many paths to God." This all-inclusive teaching is clearly false according to the Holy Scriptures. The Holy Bible teaches that there is a way that seems right to a man, but leads to destruction: "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." Proverbs 16:25. We need to not fool ourselves into thinking "we are safe" without God.

God is the same today as He was yesterday, and He changes not. "For I am the LORD, I change not;..." Malachi 3:6. "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." Hebrews 13:8. The principles of Jesus Christ are as valid today as when He taught them to earlier generations. We need to not forget the old paths or ways: "Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls..." Jeremiah 6:16.

This is a "living document" which will likely be added to, amended, and enhanced as new things are revealed to me by God in the future. One thing that will not change is that there is only one true way to God, that being through Jesus Christ.

It is impossible for God to lie: "That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec." Hebrews 6:18-20.

"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" Numbers 23:19.

Anyone who calls into question the integrity of God, or accuses Him of being a liar, is in serious danger!

Rather, we should walk in the ways of the Lord, and trust, nothing wavering, in His excellency:

"Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess." Deuteronomy 5:33.

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones." Proverbs 3:5-8.

Nothing Wavering Faith

"Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." James 1:3-8.

If we waver in our faith, we should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Satan is the accuser of the brethren (Revelation 12:10), and would like nothing better than for Believers in Christ, or Christians, to have a wavering kind of faith in God, and in Jesus Christ. Satan knows that without faith it is impossible to please God: "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Hebrews 11:6.

God does not tempt us, but rather our own lust draws us into various sins. Too many people have been taught to blame God when we are tempted, and some are taught that He is the one doing the tempting: "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren." James 1:12-16. Avoid sin at all costs! There is a precious reward for those who overcome temptation. Only with the Lord's help can we overcome temptation, and not by our own selves or our own works.

"But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded." James 4:6-8.

We resist Satan, then overcome him with Christ, and the testimony from Christ: "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." Revelation 12:11. "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:21.

We are to put on Christ: "But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof." Romans 13:14. "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ." Galatians 3:26-27.

Our lives are to be a continual testimony for, and from, Jesus Christ. Apart from Him we are nothing. We open up the door for sin to come in, once we depart from Christ and from the testimony He has given us.

God's virtue is linked to our continual abiding with Him in faith. If we waver in faith or step outside the mighty protection that His righteousness affords, we are "sitting ducks" to be attacked and potentially damaged by the enemy. That is why we must dwell in the secret place of the Most High continually:

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation." Psalm 91 (entire).

The protection and blessings that abiding in faith with God through Jesus Christ bring, with the help of the precious Holy Spirit, are not to be taken lightly, but rather should be appreciated and sought after.

Worship and Thanksgiving

We demonstrate our faith, in part, by the singing of songs and spiritual hymns in worship, expressing our thanks, to our Creator. God loves it when we come in child-like faith to worship Him for His Name's Sake.

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." Colossians 3:16.

"Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;" Ephesians 5:19.

"O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever." 1 Chronicles 16:34.

"Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name." Psalm 18:49.

"It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: " Psalm 92:1.

"O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker." Psalm 95:6.

Worship sets the atmosphere and environment for God to do great things. When we reverence Him, He responds to His children who seek Him and worship Him in faith. "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." John 4:24.

Beware of vain worship of God: "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me." Matthew 15:8. Our hearts must be right before Him.

The Heart Relates To Faith

"My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." Proverbs 4:20-23. Out of the heart flows the issues of life. We must keep our heart so clean from sin, so that faith may arise and take over every area of our being. Sin stops faith from operating. Consider it like a spiritual heart attack! We must flee from sin!

I believe many people aren't healed by God today due to sin in their hearts. Sin blocks faith, and His faith is essential to receive healing from God. Sin demonstrates a person's lack of trust in God. Faith demands trust.

"Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee." Psalm 51:9-13.

God wants us to have life: "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10. "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." 3 John 1:2.

"For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones." Isaiah 57:15.

God is seeking those with a pure and contrite heart before Him: "For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him..." 2 Chronicles 16:9. "The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit." Psalm 34:18. "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise." Psalm 51:17. Our heart will condemn us before God if there is any sin found in it, but if our heart is free from sin, it will not condemn us, and we will then have faith or confidence toward God.

"Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us." 1 John 3:21-24.

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do... Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. " Hebrews 4:12,13,16.

Only with Christ's help can we be free from sin. The blood of Christ is for the atonement of our sins today. We must have faith in Christ, and in His blood, for the remissions of our sins. "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission." Hebrews 9:22.

"Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus." Romans 3:24-26. Christ said: "For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." Matthew 26:28.

If you have sin in your heart, this will serve as a roadblock to faith. Seek after a pure and contrite heart before God. Ask Him to change your heart of sin to one of contrition, whose sins are covered by Christ's precious blood that was shed for us on Calvary. Acknowledge your sins, and seek Jesus, the forgiver of sins.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9. Allow your heart to believe unto righteousness, as God's righteousness will cover and protect us. "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:10. Delight to walk humbly with Him, free from all sin, so that His faith may arise within you, and lead you into His hope, love, grace, and peace.

Faith vs. Magic

The word supernatural invokes all kinds of images and thoughts. A definition is "(a manifestation or event) attributed to some force beyond scientific understanding or the laws of nature." It often implies something that we can't understand or explain. The devil uses the mystery and allure of the supernatural to further his satanic agenda. Today, many movies, television shows, and video games use demonic and supernatural images, sounds, and other references. The word supernatural today often implies occult or magical origin. Magic includes slight of hand, illusion, deception, misdirection, and also supernatural occult practices. Many children and teenagers have become indoctrinated through movies, TV, comics, music, and video games with magic, fantasy, and science fiction themes. Tales of wizards, witches, dragons, magic, and aliens abound.

There is another definition for supernatural that we as Christians should know about. Just like magic, sorcery, and demonology are false versions of what God created supernatural to be, there is a valid, true God inspired realm of the supernatural, which is faith from God, or the God kind of faith. We were created by God to trust Him at all times and in all things, without wavering. He wants us to exercise and walk in His supernatural realm of faith that He created for us to experience and enjoy! We have a better kind of supernatural offered to us by God: "...all things are possible to him that believeth." Mark 9:23. Nothing is impossible with God!

What We Hear And Watch Influences Our Faith In God

We are actively involved in a media society. Information and technology are growing by leaps and bounds. If we are not careful, we might get inundated with information! The world can be a confusing place, filled with conflicting information, some good and some bad. God wants us to separate the true from the false. "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8.

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17. The Word of God is our gold standard for truth! The enemy tries to lure us into false teachings and lies. We need to be so filled with God's Word that we know right from wrong, and good from evil. Be careful what you allow yourself to be exposed to by way of people and media. Wrong choices tend to influence us to sin, lose our faith in God, and allow our conscience to become seared. Hearing and reading the Word of God builds our faith!
